It’s opening day at Fenway Park!   Spring has finally arrived . . . sort of . . . it’s still chilly out there with snow in the forecast.

Check out the Access Guide for Guests with Disabilities on the Red Sox website.  This is the first I’ve heard of tickets designated as “ADA-tickets” at Fenway and would love to hear more from fans with disabilities about their experiences at venerable Fenway.

And now for some disability-trivia! Some famous major league ball players with disabilities include:

Jim Abbott —  a pitcher with one hand who played for 10 seasons on 4 different teams including a 4-0 no-hitter for NY Yankees vs. Cleveland (Sept. 4, 1993).

. . . and William Ellsworth “Dummy” Hoy  (1862-1961) — a Deaf outfielder who played more that 1,792 games in the major leagues with a .288 lifetime batting average.  Hoy is credited with inspiring the use of hand signals for balls and strikes in major league baseball.
