. . . and the year of the Japanese!  (What with Dice-K at Fenway too!?)

Big congrats to Masazumi Soejima, age 36, who won the men’s wheelchair division at 1:29:16 and Wakako Tsuchida, age 32, who won the woman’s wheelchair division at 1:53:30!

Did you know that in 1975 the Boston Marathon became the first major marathon to include a wheelchair division competition when it officially recognized Bob Hall  —Disability Coordinator for the Boston Athletic Association (BAA)/Boston Marathon and one of the Watertown Commission on Disability’s newest and highly valued commissioners.  Bob is considered the father (he says “grandfather” but, no no no….) of the wheelchair division of the modern marathon!

Bob, we’re proud to have you as part of the community and the Commission on Disability!
