Rep. Markey on YouTube with captions!
May 17, 2007
Jenifer Simpson of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) reports on Rep. Markey’s most recent—and communication accessible—appearance on YouTube:
On Friday May 11, 2007, minutes after gaveling open a hearing on the future of digital media, Rep. Edward J. Markey (D-MA) pulled out a camcorder and started filming. Ed Markey is the chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet. He said that his video will prove that anyone, even a congressman, can figure out how to use new media. Also, demonstrating his continued leadership for disability accessibility and usability in communications technology, the Congressman ensured that his video clip was captioned before it went up on the Internet.
