Did you know: In response to the philosophical shift in services in the 1970’s, a group of Watertown Massachusetts citizens took over the operation of what had been an extension program for women with mental retardation operated by the Fernald State School program? This new program was one of the first of its kind in the state, a pioneer in the development of support services to adults with mental retardation, and has served more than 200 people.
