Betsy Bayha’s documentary about the life of Judith Scott, a Deaf woman with disabilities, who, after a life of institutionalization,
has become a celebrated fiber artist. Lorri Berenberg, Director of the Berenberg Gallery and Rae Edelson, Director of Gateway Arts, Vinfen Service, will be present for a discussion that will follow screening.“This is a film of discovery and transformation. It is the story of
one woman’s journey from a lifetime of institutionalization and displacement to a place of personal empowerment through art. Judith Scott’s story challenges many of our society’s notions – about human worth, human ability and human potential. Through her story and her art we learn that people are capable of achieving astonishing success – if only they have the opportunity to express themselves in a way that is appropriate and right for them.” – Director Betsy BayhaTo purchase tickets, visit: http://www.mfa.org/calendar/event.asp?
