Migliozzi: Workers could learn a lot from Nurul at Tedeschi’s (Watertown TAB)

From Jeff Migliozzi’s column, If You’re Like Me… in the June 1, 2007 edition of the Watertown Tab. I love this one, partly because I agree, Nurul is a terrific guy who makes all the difference at Tedeschi’s (formerly Store 24) on Main! Jeff also touches on real issues related to disabilities and employment, and employment, jobs, careers in general.
WATERTOWN, MA—Over the years, I have become more observant of people at their work. My primary reason for this is my own work at the Perkins School for the Blind, where as part of my job, I address the issues of future employment for my students.
Currently, around 70 percent of the blind or visually impaired population are unemployed or underemployed, and as you can imagine, this is a major obstacle for our students to overcome as they make their transition from school to the workaday world of being an adult. [more …]
