The Watertown Senior Center has programs for everyone (my mom’s a member of the book club and the weekly food pantry brigade!) Really cool that the Watertown programs attract out-of-town seniors!

Art is among the many programs at the Senior Center

WATERTOWN, MA -Back in the mid-1960s, Jean Barrett stopped working on an oil painting of her daughter.

“I put it away because I didn’t have time, and wasn’t happy with it,” said Barrett, who is completing the painting on Mondays at the Senior Center. “Now I have the courage to go back and finish it.”

Barrett gets a lot of support from the other seniors present as she works from a photo of her daughter holding a Raggedy Ann doll. It’s this spirit of cooperation that keeps many people coming back. [more…]
