Wireless Internet Access for the Disabled
October 25, 2007
Watertown recently opened its new library. The library and its immediate surrounding area has WIFi Wireless Fidelity, often termed WiFi which allows anyone with a portable computer with wireless technology to access the internet. Making information available to people and persons with disabilities is a matter of human rights and makes good business sense. The Watertown Commission on Disability would like to know any venues in Watertown that have WiFi available for the community. This initiative will help identify areas that the public can access and increase their availability to information and allow a greater learning potential.
Listed on USA Today, there are five Wi-Fi hotspots in Watertown including Panera Bread (free connection) and Starbucks. If you know of any ‘hot spots’ in the Watertown area, tell us about them. if you are a consumer that has a wireless router in your home, you should take necessary precautions to block others from connecting through your service.
