Employment Now Coalition Announcement
The February 5 Employment Now Coalition meeting will be webcasted on www.livestream.com/webshare starting just before 1 PM. This is a demonstration project being tested by the Disability Policy Consortium through the generous contribution of Steve Marx. It will be an opportunity for people unable to attend the meeting in Worcester to at least follow the meeting. The connection will be limited to the first 50 people to connect. There may be an opportunity to ask questions by using a chat function. That remains to be seen. The picture and sound will be as good as we can get it, but remember, this will not be a CNN production. You will need speakers or a headset to listen. This meeting will also include captioning generously provided by our favorite remote CART provider, Gayl Hardeman, Hardeman Realtime, Inc. Users looking for the captioning should open a second Internet window and go to http://www.streamtext.net/text.aspx?event=DPCMAMeeting. We will not have the capability to provide a camera dedicated to an ASL interpreter for this meeting. As of this point in time, no one has requested an interpreter for the live meeting.
DPC Partners with the U.S. Census Bureau to Support the 2010 Census
The DPC is partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau to spread the word about the 2010 Census. Conducted every 10 years, the census is much more than a population count. Census data are used to reapportion congressional seats to states, and directly affect how more than $400 billion per year in federal funding is distributed to state, local and tribal governments.

Youth Leadership Forum
YLF is here again!
The Youth Leadership Forum was initiated in 1992 by the California Governor’s Committee on the Employment of Disabled Persons. This popular program spread across the country and is now conducted annually in more than 30 states. The mission of the YLF is to identify High School students with disabilities who have demonstrated leadership potential, academic success, involvement in their school and community and provide them with training and experiences, role models, and mentors to assist them in becoming tomorrow’s leaders.
Last year we held a one day YLF event at the State House, but this year we have a small budget to host a more typical YLF experience on a college campus. With the funding that we have, we are holding YLF at Bridgewater State College for three days and two nights from July 7th-9th. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
