In its effort to serve all people equally, the mission of the Watertown Commission on Disability is to promote full access to town and community services, programs, and businesses for all individuals with disabilities.
Working closely with town and community leaders, the Commission sponsors activities and programs, and provides advocacy, trainings, educational materials, and consultation. The Commission on Disability:
- Researches local problems affecting persons with disabilities.
- Advises and assists the town’s administration and elected officials regarding disability issues.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations affecting people with disabilities.
- Coordinates and implements programs designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities and their families.
- Provides information, referrals, guidance, and professional assistance on all matters pertaining to disability.
- Partners with other local groups to better achieve the mission.
- Recognizes those community members and leaders who support our mission.
